Hello from the Johansen family. Kevin & I both grew up raising beef cattle on small purebred cattle operations in Missouri. The Charolais are Kevin’s baby. These are a few of our crossbred recipient cows. Through synchronized breeding and embryo transfer, they raise purebred calves helping to grow our herd with preferred genetics. The bulls at the feed bunk will be sold as breeding age bulls and might even hit the show road this winter at the American Royal or National Western Stock Show. ___ It’s #TakeOverTuesday! Kevin, Jamie and Harper Johansen call Lebanon, MO in Laclede County home where they raise Charolais and Hereford cattle, a horse and two pigs. They both work off the farm ~ Kevin for The Durham Company in the sale of electrical distribution equipment and Jamie in agricultural media for her company Honey Creek Media. ___ #mofarmbureau #mofarming #farmlife #missourifarming #mofarming #missouri #farmfamily #cattle #beefmonth #beef #charolais #takeover #instagramtakeover

And my babies are the Herefords! Every other spring, we have a production sale marketing spring pairs, bred heifers and breeding age bulls. These were taken in Lawrence County on sale day April, 30, 2017. Who remembers the rain last spring? My Dad is a multi-gen farmer, but 1st gen purebred Hereford breeder. His 1st Hereford heifer was purchased as an FFA Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) project. Building fence, raking hay and breeding cattle through artificial insemination (AI) are just a few life skills learned on the farm at an early age. Thanks Dad! ___ It’s #TakeOverTuesday! Off the farm, Kevin works in sales for a family-owned manufacturer of electrical distribution enclosures. He spent nearly a year on the shop floor learning to build each product. Now, he travels the Southeast U.S. wearing a sales/marketing hat. He jokes that marketing electrical equipment is a lot like marketing cattle…it’s all about relationships. ___ It’s #TakeOverTuesday! Off the farm I get to be a storyteller. I work in agricultural media as a broadcast journalist and content creator. I get to travel the world meeting farmers and ranchers who love what they do…feeding, fueling & clothing the consumer. I am on the road a lot and Kevin is too. Farm chores are juggled between the two of us each day. I keep my barn shoes in the trunk because I never know when I will need to make a quick change out of heels to do chores. ___ It’s #TakeOverTuesday! Our farm has evolved a bit since our 4-year-old daughter, #HarperLovin, has taken interest. She has claimed my horse, Maddie, as her own and is learning to ride. Last summer she showed a goat at the county fair and this year we dove off into pigs. Meet Chase and Sky! She is also spending this summer working with her first Hereford heifer, Everest. Which is the start of her own herd. Any #PawPatrol fans out there? Everything in our house and on the farm carries this theme. ___ It’s #TakeOverTuesday! As a millennial parent, I might have a few photos of my child laying around. So, no shortage of photos of #HarperLovin on the farm. She has been checking cows, riding around in the tractor, fixing fence, chopping ice and playing in the hay. And not too young for chores. Of course, as parents we help her out. But she is learning how to feed, water and care for her animals each day. ___ It’s #TakeOverTuesday!
