Missouri Farm Bureau President Blake Hurst made the following statement regarding the new clean water rule:

“The new clean water rule will provide much-needed certainty to Missouri’s farmers and ranchers. The previous rule that President Obama proposed was illegal and overreaching. We need a common-sense water rule that protects water quality and gives us clear rules we can follow.

“Missouri Farm Bureau’s members led the movement against the Obama-era proposal with their ‘Ditch the Rule’ campaign. Today’s announcement shows that the current administration has listened to America’s farmers and ranchers by issuing a common-sense rule.

“Farmers and ranchers should be able to look at their land and know what is and is not governed by federal law. Farm Bureau supports landowners’ right to use their land responsibly while protecting and enhancing water resources. This rule strikes an appropriate balance between landowner rights and prudent, clear regulations.”
