Missouri Farm Bureau President Blake Hurst made the following statement upon the U.S. Senate’s passage of the 2018 Farm Bill:

“The Senate approved their version of the 2018 Farm Bill by a vote of 86 -11. Missouri Farm Bureau supported passage of the bill and appreciated Senator Roy Blunt and Senator Claire McCaskill voting to approve the measure. We were pleased to see it move through the Senate with no harmful cuts to crop insurance or farm programs. We now look to the conference committee to work out the differences between the House and Senate version, and continue to be hopeful that a final agreement will be reached well in advance of the September 30th expiration of the current bill. As farmers in Missouri face low prices for their products and uncertainty surrounding trade, it is refreshing to see Congress move forward on legislation that will truly make a difference in the lives of rural Americans.”
