Mary Fischer, of Rockville, was re-elected to a two-year term on the Missouri Farm Bureau (MOFB) board of directors during the organization’s 105th annual meeting December 10 at the Lake of the Ozarks. Fischer will represent members in board districts 1, 2, 3 and 4 as the north director-at-large. This marks her third term on the board.
Fischer is chair of the MFB Promotion and Education (P&E) committee responsible for Agriculture in the Classroom projects and other promotional activities. Fischer was a member of the P&E committee in 2011 and 2012. Nationally, she serves on the American Farm Bureau Federation P&E committee as vice chair. Locally, Fischer is also a member of the Bates County Farm Bureau board, county P&E chair and the county Extension Council.
Raised in Kansas City, Mo., Fischer became active in farming when she married Kevin Fischer. Since then, the couple has raised three sons and Fischer has learned to drive farm machinery and work with livestock. In 2014, the Fischers were named the State Fair Farm Family. On their Century Farm, they raise corn, soybeans, wheat and a commercial Angus cow/calf herd.
