SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – On August 29, 2018, Missouri Farm Bureau’s Political Action Committee endorsed Congressman Billy Long for re-election in Missouri’s Seventh Congressional District. Trustees of the Missouri Farm Bureau Southwest Regional Endorsement Committee interviewed Long in Springfield and voted to endorse his re-election bid.

Long is serving his fourth term in Congress and is a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. He has received the prestigious Friend of Farm Bureau Award from the American Farm Bureau Federation for each of his three completed terms.

“Congressman Long has been a long-time advocate for initiatives that help farmers, ranchers and rural communities,” said Trent Drake, chairman of the Southwest Regional Endorsement Committee. “His efforts on regulatory reform, especially his leadership on exempting agricultural operations from reporting manure emissions under the onerous Superfund program, are just what we need in Washington.”

Trustees are selected by their county Farm Bureau organizations. They interview candidates, review voting records and seek their positions on issues prior to voting on endorsements. This is the fifth consecutive election in which Missouri Farm Bureau has endorsed Long.
