Smithville High Students Work With Mentors to Build Robots
Known as S.W.A.T. (Smithville Warriors Advancing Technology Team), students and mentors have just wrapped up their third season of competition in a unique program that tests their marketing, design and machining skills. Starting with identical parts, teams across the country build a robot. The teams then gather their robots together in a competition to see who can perform the same task best.

KRUSE REQUESTS IMPLEMENTATION OF SUPPLEMENTARY DISASTER ASSISTANCE
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - In a letter to the Secretary of Agriculture, Missouri Farm Bureau President Charlie Kruse asked for the immediate implementation of the new Supplementary Disaster Assistance Program provided for in the recently adopted farm bill, the Food, Conservation and Energy Act, and consideration of measures to ease concerns of livestock producers.

Missouri Farm Bureau Opposes Mandatory NAIS Registration for School Lunch Program Purchases
Missouri Farm Bureau President Charles Kruse sent a letter to the Missouri's members of the U.S. House of Representatives expressing the organization's opposition to a current provision of the 2009 agriculture spending bill approved by the House Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee. As written, the legislation would require USDA to purchase School Lunch Program meat products from premises registered with the National Animal Identification System (NAIS). The letter reads as follows:
