Missouri Agritourism

Missouri Farm Bureau recognizes the importance of agritourism to farmers and ranchers seeking additional revenue sources and the general public as a way to connect to agriculture for entertainment, educational and nostalgic purposes. Bringing the general public directly to the farm or ranch can give them a chance to have a personal experience with farming or ranching activities as well as historic, cultural or natural attractions. MOFB’s goal is for them to walk away from the experience with a better understanding and appreciation for agriculture.

DeKalbWindy Wine CompanyWineryOsbornWindy Wine Company started many years ago. Kraig Keesaman was enjoying the art of home brewing, and Becky Keesaman (wife) was feeling a little wanting. She asked Kraig to make a wine for her to enjoy while he was already engrossed, bucket deep, in a Belgium Triple. He agreed and made a lovely Burgandy style wine. After many compliments and encouragement to make more wines, Kraig delved into an adventure in brewing of another kind: Wine Making.

Kraig worked a number of years at a local winery, assisting with vinology, vineyard maintenance, management of the sales floor, and many other aspects. Becky also worked assisting on the sales floor.

Kraig further continued his advancements while studying at the University of Missouri in their courses for vinology. Kraig has also attended other courses offered by wine professionals.

Since the Burgandy wine kit, Kraig and Becky have planted nearly 6 acres of grapevines on their Missouri Century Farm. With Vignoles, Delaware, Concord, and Chambourcin to start, they plan on adding more varieties in the future.

JohnsonBuckeye Acres ProduceAgritainmentWarrensburgBuckeye Acres was started in 1983 by Jim and Jeanne Counts to provide fresh produce like they had when they were growing up in northern Ohio. As native Ohioans they felt the farm need a little Ohio spirit leading to the farm name. The farm started off with a u-pick strawberry patch and a few vegetables so mom could stay home with us boys. As Buck & Will got older, the farm branched out into raspberries, blackberries and increased the number of vegetable crops. In 1987 the farm started a harvest festival in October featuring a pumpkin patch, a wide selection of fall decorations and fun activites for the family which ran until 2003 when the boys went off to explore the world and earn a couple of advanced degrees along the way. Even though the Harvest festival was put on hold Jim & Jeanne continued providing high quality fruits and vegetables to the local community either at the local farmers market or directly off the farm.660-624-1054None Listed

LincolnShapley Ross HouseOtherMoscow MillsIn 1817 Shapley Ross and his family moved from Kentucky to Missouri Territory and settled near Clark's Fort, a war of 1812 stockade, in the area of present day Moscow Mills. After acquiring a grist and saw mill on the Cuivre River, Ross began construction of a stone house on the hill that overlooked the mill. In 1821 Ross and a group of local businesses planned the town of Moscow (later to be renamed Moscow Mills) as a competing point for the county seat. Ross died in 1823 and his widow, Mary Prince Ross, remained in the home until 1831 at which time she sold the house to Henry Martin, the first merchant of Moscow.636-366-9825http://www.greatriverroad.com/hannibal/ross.htm

PlatteGreen Dirt FarmFarmWestonOur products are the result of our love for our soil, our sheep and our community. That's why we say Green Dirt Farm is Good for Ewe! The foundation for what we do at Green Dirt Farm is our understanding that grass-based dairying is the best way to make milk. We have embraced this philosophy because: Grass-based dairying is the most caring way to raise our sheep, grass-based dairying is the best way to care for our land and grass-based dairying creates the highest quality and most flavorful milk for our dairy products. Our farms foundation of grass-based dairying creates the highest quality and most flavorful milk for our dairy products. As the grasses change throughout the year change so do the flavors in the milk we use for our hand crafted cheeses and yogurts. These changes in flavor create wonderful differences in our cheeses and yogurts from season to season that remind us of our connection to the land and help us celebrate the important occasions in our lives.816-386-2156https://www.greendirtfarm.com/
