Welcome to Farm Bureau’s Farm Bill
Resource Center.
The farm bill is a wise investment
in our nation’s food security, environmental
health, and rural communities. Like previous farm bills, the Farm Security and
Rural Investment Act of 2002 authorized programs
to help farmers and ranchers weather the uncertainties of production agriculture,
assuring that American consumers continue
to enjoy the safest, most abundant, and most affordable food supply in the world.
The bill also authorized funds to conserve
and enhance the nation’s natural resources, fulfill the nutritional needs of the
poor, senior citizens and children, and invest
in rural development, renewable energy production, agricultural research and other
initiatives.
The current farm bill will expire on September
30, 2007, thus it must soon be renewed or extended by Congress. The Farm Bill
Resource Center is devoted to providing Farm Bureau members access to the most
current information on the farm bill debate and
the organization’s efforts on behalf of farm and ranch families across Missouri
and the U.S.
As interests outside of agriculture become involved
in development of the next farm bill, farmers and ranchers must be more
informed and vocal than ever to protect their interest in legislation that directly
affects them.
The farm bill: an investment that’s working.
