Building a Foundation for Agriculture

I want to extend my appreciation to everyone who has supported the Missouri Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture over the past six years. With help from individuals and many business partners, the Foundation has contributed over $70,000 to agriculture education and leadership programs. I thank all those who have been so generous and encourage anyone interested in maintaining a strong and viable agriculture to consider a tax-deductible gift to the Missouri Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture.

President, Missouri Farm Bureau

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

A strong focal point of the Foundation has been the continuing development of agriculture's future leaders. By contributing to the Missouri Young Farmers and Ranchers leadership programs and providing scholarships at state universities and colleges offering an agriculture curriculum, young people are able to expand their knowledge in this exciting field. In 2004, 12 scholarships totaling $6,000 were presented to students at six Missouri colleges and universities. Both of our MFB Ambassadors received scholarships totaling $2,500.

Members of the state MFB YF&R Committee, photo above right, play a vital part in planning and hosting the annual YF&R Conference which the Foundation financially supports. During the MFB annual meeting, members of several collegiate FB chapters compete in a discussion meet. The Foundation contributes financial awards to youth competing in several contests during the meeting.

EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Mini-grants have been awarded to 285 Missouri educators totaling $47,574. These grants enabled teachers to reach more than 34,000 students with an agricultural message. This popular program also helps teachers learn more about the importance of agriculture in everyday life.
