MINI-GRANT PROGRAM
for
AGRICULTURE IN THE CLASSROOM
| What is Agriculture in the Classroom?
|
Agriculture is an important part of everyone’s life. Clothing, food, fuel, housing, medicine, and much more
are rooted in agriculture. Educators across the country are effectively integrating agriculture into the curriculum. Agriculture has no subject
matter boundaries and can become a part of social stud-ies, language arts, science, math, environmental education, art, music, or in a
combination of areas that effectively integrate key agricultural principles.
Missouri Farm Bureau Foundation For Agriculture is offering competitive mini-grants of up to $250.00 for use
in classroom programs K-12 that promote agricultural literacy. The budget section of the application provides space for detailing the
amount needed and how it will be utilized.A total of $7,500 is available for the 2009-2010 school year.
| What are the criteria for selection?

The program objectives should enhance student knowledge of the contribution made by agriculture. Innovative
and inter-disciplinary programs will be encouraged. Field trips and assemblies must be linked to classroom learning objectives and must
outline speciac pre- and post-event activities.
Applications will be evaluated by a panel of judges (educators and agricultural leaders). The criteria for
selection will be based on the completeness of the application in each area
- Strong agricultural message
- Alignment with teaching standards
- Method of assessment
- Quality of resources
- Explanation of budget
Complete the attached form or answer the questions on a separate page in the order listed, not to exceed
the front of two pages. This allows you to use the computer and also dedicate space as needed for each section. A printable copy of the
application can be downloaded at www.mofb.org. Return postmarked by September 30, 2009

Notification of winning applications will be made by November 1, 2009.
One half the amount will be given upon approval and the remainder upon completion. Mini-grant winners will be
required to submit a brief written summary at the conclusion of the program.
